A Northridge Patient’s Guide
Dental implants are natural looking prosthetic teeth that are attached to your jawbone, which means they won’t move out of place. Instead, dental implants provide the same type of stability and security as natural teeth. No other smile restoration offers this combination of comfort and convenience. With dental implants, you can go back to eating all your favorite foods again and you’ll be able to smile with confidence.
What Are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are an entirely new approach to restoring missing teeth. Instead of just sitting on top of your gums like dentures or a dental bridge, dental implants are surgically placed in your jaw. The bones in your jaw develop a bond with your implants that is similar to the way your natural tooth root functions. This prevents the implant from moving out of place as dentures often do.
Dental implants are custom-made to match your natural teeth, so they blend in with your smile. Another benefit of dental implants is that they enhance the overall health of your smile by promoting jawbone development. Implants also help prevent gum disease by replacing missing gaps in the smile. When left unfilled, these gaps are vulnerable to infection and bacteria formation.
We also provide TeethXpress for patients looking to restore an upper arch, a lower arch, or both. With TeethXpress, we can restore your arch in just one day without the need for bone grafting.

Dental Implants FAQs Answered by Dr. Lau
What are the benefits of dental implants?
Dental implants offer many benefits that make them an ideal tooth replacement option. They naturally integrate into your jawbone, which means they feel just like your natural teeth.
Each implant is custom-crafted to match your natural teeth flawlessly and blend in with your smile. Dental implants also never need to be removed for cleaning or eating like dentures, which allows you to enjoy all your favorite foods again.
How much do dental implants cost?
The cost of a dental implant varies on a variety of factors such as needing a supplemental procedure to improve your oral health or how many implants will be placed.
During your consultation, Dr. Lau can help determine a more precise estimate after discussing your smile goals and examining your oral health. We also offer a variety of financial options to help cover the cost of your treatment.
Are dental implants safe?
Dental implants are a very safe and effective tooth replacement option for those who are missing teeth. The titanium used for dental implants naturally bonds to your jawbone which allows for ultimate support and stability for your permanent restoration.
Can my son or daughter get dental implants?
That depends on their oral development, which should be complete before they begin the implant process. Dental implants are not recommended for patients under the age of 18.
Oral development does not end until after puberty, which can last until the late teens or early 20s for some patients.
I have dentures, can I upgrade to dental implants?
If you currently have a denture, we will proudly upgrade you to TeethXpress, which offers same-day full-arch restoration using your existing denture. Or if you prefer, we can fashion you an attractive, entirely new prosthetic which is secured using just 4 to 6 implants.
